MASAZA CUP: Ssese condemn Ssingo to shock defeat

Ssese continued to prove their might as this year’s surprise package when they subjected Ssingo to their first defeat of the season.

They kicked of the second round in tremendous fashion by avenging the 3-0 loss inflicted on them by Ssingo in the opening match.

Denis Mwemezi gave Ssese an early lead in the 6th minute through a well taken free-kick at the edge of the box that Derrick Were.

Brian Ade doubled Ssese’s lead towards the end of the first stanza sending the home fans wild.

Substitute Badru Nsimbe pulled one vack for Ssingo 10 minutes to full-time but was not enough for any positive result.

Mwemezi now moves to 7 goals and he is currently the leading scorer of the tournament.

It’s now tight in Masengere group as Ssingo and Ssese are tied on 10 points, Bugerere 7 points and Gomba 4 points.

Fred Kasekende the man at the helms of Ssese applauded his troops for the commanding display and urged them to continue pushing for the knock out stages.

“Our primary target is making it past the group stages and I am confident if my players continue with such performances we are going to achieve it.”
