After failing to make the finals, defending champions Buddu had to settle for a third place playoff with Busiro. Steven Bogere’s men have got the job done today 26th, August, 2017 winning Busiro 4-2 in normal time at Mandela national stadium.
It was however not an easy task for the 2016 champions with Busiro finding the back of the net through Kalule Richard in the 5th minute.
Kiwanuka Paul’s men gained more momentum at 1-0 and eventually talisman Kalule Richard found his second of the day with 35 minutes off the clock.
At 2-0 down, Buddu started to attack with winger Ssenyonga Mikidadi causing all sorts of problems to the Busiro defence.
His efforts finally paid off with 2minutes to half time break, giving Buddu the much needed goal to end the first period of the game at 2-1.
Buddu started the second half strongly with Busiro on the back foot. In the 56minute the score line was 2-2, with Ogwang Isaac giving Buddu the equalizer. Buddu continued to look for the match winner and last year’s MVP Sserubili Ivan made it 3-2 through a spot on the hour mark.
Busiro started to attack but Buddu goalkeeper Mutumba Adadi made tremendous saves to keep the score at 3-2.
With only 5minutes to full time, Kato Umar made it 4-2 for Buddu, game ended with the same score.
Buddu walked home with 5million for finishing third while fourth placed Busiro also took home 3 million, a function that was graced by the Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga.
