•Mawokota 0-1 Buddu
•Ssingo 1-0 Bugerere
•Kkooki 1-0 Busiro

Three of the quarter final ties in the Masaza Cup ended in a similar scoreline of 1-0 with Buddu, Ssingo and Kkooki picking up vital wins.

Defending Champions Buddu edged Mawokota away from home courtesy of a penalty from last year’s MVP Serubiri Ivan in the 60th minute of the game. Serubiri stepped up to punish the 3 times champions after striker Kennedy Kasozi handled the ball in his own box few minutes after coming on as a substitute

At Mityana Sazza ground, nothing grabbed more attention than only goal of the match scored by the hosts Ssingo. At the 28 minute mark, Ssingo captain Sebuwufu “Dube” Stephen had his effort pass through a mob of defenders before being cleared off the line.

However, Referee Solomon Lusambya confirmed it as a goal oblivious of the confusion at the pitch. Bugerere players confronted Lusambya’s first assistant in opposition of the decision made but in vain.

After minutes of puzzlement, play resumed on a low note with Police restoring the situation. Both teams played an end to end but barren second half.

Elsewhere in Rakai, Kkooki snatched a late winner against Busiro through Jamal Buchochera. Jamal finished off Sande Gerald’s corner in the last grasp of the added four minutes to send home fans at Lwanda grounds wild.

On Saturday, Last year’s finalists Gomba held on to a scoreless draw against Bulemeezi at Luweero. Ssingo’s Mukwala Steven still leads the scoring charts with 8 goals while Janjali Joseph of Gomba comes second with 6.

Games resume with the second legs coming in two weeks from now.
