Masavu FC are one of the lucky sides to have progressed to the round of 32 of the Uganda cup without kicking a ball after Jinja based side JMC Hippos failed to turn up for the match.
Masavu FC skipper Abraham Ndugwa believes this was a big blessing in disguise for them since most of their players were not yet licensed and ready for the match. He said,
“Having lost close to 10 players in the transfer window, we found ourselves lacking in number because the new recruits are yet to be registered and licenced by the federation. JMC’s failure to honour their fixture has given us more time to get set for the next round of the Uganda cup”.
Ndugwa is also a stronger believer and he maintains that, everyone in the team is confident they will turn up strong for the second round of the league to save their team from demotion. He adds,
“Despite being in the relegation zone, I am confident that the club management have made the right signings for every position and we have used this break to set our selves for the battle against relegation “.
He concludes by asking the fans not to lose hope since they are going to work hard and support the team.
” We are getting set for the second round and through hard work we are to make it since the battle is still on I believe we are strong enough to survive the drop and to fully give in as I have always done.”
Skipper Abraham Ndugwa currently has four goals scored in the first round as Masavu FC lies 14th on the log of 16 with 14 points.
