Maroons goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo has apologized to Viane Sekajugo following a bad stamp on the Wakiso Giants forward in a Uganda Premier League game played on Tuesday.
Ssebwalunyo was given a straight red card for the incident after he conceded a late goal from Sekajugo.
” I would like to send my apologies to the Wakiso Giants player Viane Sekajugo for the incident that happened when we were playing against them.” Ssebwalunyo said in video.
” I fouled him in some unrespectable way though it was never my intention to do such. It was just the pressure of the game. I kindly say I’m sorry for what happened because it hurts me personally to see my fellow player being down on injury.”
” I kindly send my apologies to Viane and all fans of Wakiso Giants. I wish you a quick recovery brother.”
Wakiso Giants rallied from a goal down to edge Maroons thanks to goals from Sekajugo and Tom Masiko inside the closing six minutes of the game.
The Purple Sharks confirmed that Sekajugo is out of danger but still feels pain which is likely to rule him out of their next game against Kyetume on Saturday.
Ssebwalunyo on the other hand will start serving his suspension when Maroons take on Busoga United at Luzira on Friday.
