Maroons seek redemption from tricky visitors Mbarara city

On form Mbarara City target a 3rd straight victory over struggling Maroons FC in a season on match day 17 of StarTimses Uganda premier league at Luzira Prisons grounds

The two have met twice already this season, first in the reverse fixture at Kakyeka Stadium in a game which ended 2-0 and a Uganda cup game at the round of 64 where the Ankole Lions progressed to the round of 32 after defeating the Warders 4-2 in penalties.

Maroons lost to BUL FC 1-0 at FUFA Technical Center Njeru while The Ankole Lions played to a barren stalemate with KCCA at Kakyeka Stadium in their recent fixtures.

Stand in coach Robert Ssekweyama who took over after the resignation of George Best Nsimbe will have to negotiate the tie without Eddy Kapampa, Eric Dhaira, Maxwell Okello, Sylvester Okello, Martin Mpuga, Alex Ogalo and Richard Agau who are nursing injuries.

This fixture welcomes back defender Muhammad Rashid who has for some time not been part of the Ankole Lions due an injury as midfielder Ivan Mboowa who reunited with his former coach Livingston Mbabazi is likely to be handed a debut.

Solomon Walusimbi, Ronald Orombi, Pius Obuya and Brain Majwega will have to be at their best as Maroons tries to seek revenge over Mbabazi’s men.

Mbabazi will put his trust in Paul Mucurezi, Hillary Mukundane, Ibrahim Orit and and Zaidi Byekwaso if they are to move away with a positive result.

Both sides can not move positions despite maximum points, Mbarara City is 4th with 29 points and Maroons 12th with 15 points.
