Maroons saw off Proline 1-0 at Prisons grounds in Luzira on match day 8 of the Azam Uganda Premier league.

Sydney Chika struck in the 36th minute beautifully created by Solomon Walusimbi to give the home side an halftime lead.

Early in the second stanza Proline tactician Mujib Kasule introduced on Sula Matovu for Yeseli Odili. His tactical move gave the visitors more width and strengthened in attack which they were wanting in the first period.

Solomon Walusimbi had the chance to double Maroons lead when Pius Obuya’s quality cross found him unmarked in the box only heading wide.

In final minutes of the game Asaph Mwebaze introduced on William Wadri, Samson Mutyaba, Yahya Luuti for Solomon Walusimbi, Sydney Chika and Pius Obuya respectively.

David Owori for Proline was forced off through injury in the 87th minute and replaced by Bismarck Muduike.

Maroons held on to secure their first three points at home, having not won at their own yard in the last three league games, a 2-0 loss to Onduparaka,a goalless draw with URA Fc and 1-1 draw with Sc Villa.

This was also the first time Maroons has beaten Proline in the topflight division having not won against them in the last four meetings, whereas the defeat means Proline’s poor run on the road continues.

A win today puts Maroons in 5 place on 12 points while Proline lies 9th with 10 points on the Azam Uganda Premier league log.

Maroons next fixture is away to Police whereas Proline host Kcca Fc in their next game next week.
