Maroons Fc unveil new players for the 2017/18 season

After returning to the top tier of Ugandan football, Maroons Fc unveiled the squad to used in the 2017/18 season plus all the new recruits yesterday 16/09/2017 at Luzira prisons ground.

The prison side unveiled their squad at Luzira there home grounds yesterday a function where the Commissioner General of Prisons Canon Dr Johnson Byabashaija plus all respective dignitaries associated with the club and fans.

Ashadu Bugembe, Wadri William, Wani Ivan, Mutyaba Samson, Gonahasa Patrick, Kiibi William, Amanya Junior and Dhaira Eric all were unveiled and will be part of the club in the 2017/18 season where Okello Silvester was named club Captain and will be assisted by Akol Emmanuel

Byabashaijja extended his thanks to his embattled coach Asaph Mwebaze and the players who did a tremendous job of bringing back Maroons Fc to the top flight of Ugandan football. He says;

“Every player saving Maroons Fc and the prisons force is going to be awarded with a rank like those who are warder to corporal as well coach Asaph Mwebaze was a PO2 and promoted to PO1, Silvester Okello from Sergeant to Chief, Alan Anguyo and Emmanuel Akol from Corporals to Seargents. Player’s allowances and bonuses will be forwarded to the players’ accounts directly with the major aim of uplifting commitment and focus from them.

The Commissioner General further said;

“We are going to work upon the club facilities like the prisons gym which is lacking iron sheets and other gym equipments for players fitness”

Asaph Mwebaze said that he had to unveil the players so as the general public can get to know them,

“We made the unveiling to let the general public get to know the players we signed and the entire squad, we also wanted to bring members of the Prisons close to the team and get facilitated more than as it has been before,”
