If there is any thing left to play for in the Uganda premier league, its the relegation dogfight, with more than 4 teams all involved, these include Police, Lweza, The Saints, Sadolin Paints , Kirinya Jinja S.S and Bright Stars.

Lweza are playing hosts to an inform Kirinya Jinja S.S whose lives also depend on the outcome of this encounter. If any player, administrator, fan or well wisher associated with either of these sides said he wasn’t nervous about this game he’d be lying, they are playing for their futures, their lives and destiny. Its the match worth the hype of a championship final and a battle not for the faint hearted.

These two come in this fixture with mixed emotions Lweza are here fresh from a disjointing loss away to Kcca fc in their latest fixture, whereas Abbey Kikomeko’s boys are in positive and buoyant moods after having thumped already relegated neighbours JMC Hippos 4-0.

Their 1st ever topflight encounter ended in a 1-1 draw in December when Geoffrey Mubiru salvaged a point for the home team in the 90th minute, after Moses Ndawula thought he had won it for Lweza in the 85th minute. Kirinya are the team in better form having collected 8 points and only lost once in the last 5 outings, Lweza have not done themselves enough favours having only managed to collect 6 out of a possible 15.

Hamza Kalanzi’s Men (Lweza) lie 14th ( 28 points) on the log 3 places adrift of Kirinya who are in 11th (31 points), 3 points differentiate the two but Kirinya boasts of a better goal difference of negative 2, having managed to score 18, and conceded 20. Lweza on the other hand have only managed to score 26 and shipped in 32 which means they have an alarming goal difference of negative 6.

With 2 games to, a loss to Lweza will mean that they will be all but relegated and will be condemned to play in the second tier of Ugandan football for next 10 or more months, whereas a positive result will keep their hopes of survival alive dependent on the results from the other games involving relegation candidates.
