Lwaliwa header gives Vipers victory over Onduparaka

Halid Lwaliwa scored the all important goal as Vipers SC edged Onduparaka FC 1-0 at the St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Tuesday.

The Vipers captain was making a return from injury and this was his first game of the current campaign.

Lwaliwa headed the home side a perfectly delivered Bright Anukani free kick at the stroke of halftime to send the limited Kitende faithfuls into a frenzy.

The game produced limited goal scoring opportunities though Vipers were dominant in possession.

Forward Muhammad Shaban made a return to his former paymasters but the return ended in defeat.

Onduparaka have now suffered back to back defeats and have not scored a single goal in their previous three league games.

For Vipers, this was their third win of the current campaign and the second at home.

In fact, this is their fifth league win over the Arua outfit at home.

The Venoms stay second with 10 points from four games and three points adrift of leaders KCCA FC who dropped their first points of the season following a 1-1 stalemate with Soltilo Bright Stars.

The Caterpillars are remain on five points in five games.

Vipers will next play Mbarara City after the International break while Onduparaka host Police FC.
