It was their first ever season in the second tier of Ugandan football and their main target was ensuring that they stay afloat.
At least this agenda was made clear by head coach Calvin Mugerwa after their empathic late win over Kigezi Homeboyz at Kasana Kosovo grounds.
“This is our first season in the Big league, it would be unrealistic for us to start dreaming of promotion. Our target is to ensure that we mantain this status and see what we can do in the next season “
Fast forward in the final two games, the Bulemezi based side managed to collect two points from their final two games and stayed up.
They held Ndejje University in a one all stalemate at Kosovo grounds on the final day of the league, a result that confirmed the two sides stay in the second tier on the last day.
Luweero United completed their debut season fourth on Rwenzori group with 16 points from the 14 games played.
Ndejje University were a position below Luweero United with 14 points.
At the end of the season Arua Hill SC and Tooro United gained automatic promotion to the Uganda Premier League after leading Elgon and Rwenzori groups respectively.
Kigezi HomeBoyz, Paidha Black Angels, Mbale Heroes and Terrazo and Tiles have been relegated and will play in the regional leagues next season.
Gadaffi will play against Nyamityobora Football Club while Proline will face off with Blacks Power in the semi final promotional play offs on a date and venue yet to be confirmed.
Later on, the respective winners face off in the promotional final to seal the third slot of joining the Uganda Premier League.
