Luweero United and Buwambo United are destined to face off in the Buganda Regional League playoff for the abandoned season where the eventual winners will face champions of Kampala in a bid for a 2020/21 Fufa Big League berth.
For the fifth time, Luweero United will be searching for a promotion to the Big League, a feat that has eluded them in the past six years.
Goalkeeper Farouk Yawe who also doubles as Luweero’s captain is optimistic this is the right time to overcome a series of unsuccessful tries.
” We have always yearned for this and I believe our time is now to make it to the Big League. The players are more than ready and determined to play their hearts out and achieve what we have always worked hard to attain.” Yawe says,
” Our fans who are also our 12th player have never disappointed us. They have always given us full support. We call them upon this time to do the same. we won’t disappoint.”
The duel between Luweero and Buwambo will be a repeat of the Stanbic Uganda Cup encounter where Luweero won 5-4 on penalties thanks to Yawe’s penalty saving heroics.
Yawe managed to keep eight clean sheets in the 14 games played in the Sezibwa group before the league was prematurely ended.
Luweero United and Buwambo United will face off in a two legged final where the aggregate winners will be crowned the champions of Buganda Regional League.
The Buganda Regional League champions will thereafter face the Kampala Regional League champions (either Edgar’s Youth or CATDA FC) and the overall winners will qualify for the 2020/21 Big League.
