Lutalo confirms 20 for COSAFA Women’s Championships.

Natasha Shirazi and Yudaya Nakayanze were expected to join the team but couldn't make it. Whereas Shiraz's inclusion was declined by her club Hapoel Hadera, Nakayenze's documentation could not be processed on time.

The national women’s football team coach George Lutalo has announced a 20 man squad to take part in the 9th edition of the COSAFA cup that will be hosted by South Africa.

The tournament is bound to kick off tomorrow on 28th September at the Nelson Mandela bay stadium.

The Crested Cranes are pitted in group C alongside Zambia, Eswatini and Namibia and they will play their first match on Wednesday against Eswatini.

Uganda are taking part for the second time in the annual tournament that is competed for by countries that are found in the COSAFA region. The Crested Cranes firat featured in 2018 and they finished 3rd.

South Africa are the most successful team in this tournament and they have won it on for the last 5 consecutive editions. They will play an opener with Malawi on Tuesday.

Neighbors South Sudan will also make their debut in the tourney and they are also in it as guests. They had not played any international football until 2019.

The best runners up in each group will be joined by the winners for the semi finals.
