LONDON MARATHON :Kipchoge ready for Bekele challenge
Kenyan legend Eliud Kipchoge and Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele, will go head to head in a special London Marathon for elites, happening on Sunday, 4th October.
The Marathon was originally slated for April 26th but was cancelled out due to the outbreak of the horrendous global Coronavirus pandemic.
Kipchoge who is the defending Olympic men’s marathon champion,world record holder and the first person to run a marathon in under two hours is optimistic that he will again come out on top.
“It should be a great race and I am really looking forward to it after almost a year since I last competed,” told a remote news
He also hailed his rival
“I respect the man, the success and the mentality of being able to train with such discipline even after such huge success.” Kipchoge on Bekele
Kipchoge is a four time winner of the London Marathon while Bekele won the Berlin Marathon last year in 2:01:41, two seconds outside his rival’s world record.
Bekele is also a three time Olympic gold medalist, five time world champion on track and the reigning 10,000m world record holder
The two fastest marathoners in the world have faced off four times prior to this race in the marathon, including the 2016 and 2018 London Marathons which Kipchoge won.
The world will be expecting the two all time greats to produce a race of the ages during the long awaited clash.
