FUFA Women Super League side Lady Doves have suspended midfielder Reticia Nabbosa for a period of seven days and stripped of the armband for 30 days.

The punishment comes after Nabbosa slapped her goalkeeper Agatha Agnes Adongo during the club’s 2-1 defeat to She Corporate at Nakawa on Saturday.

Nabbosa slapped the novice goalkeeper soon after the team conceded the second goal from Phiona Nabbumba’s free kick in the 74th minute.

The experienced Crested Cranes central midfielder later apologized for the incident.

In a statement released by the club, Nabbosa is suspended with effect from Sunday morning and will be stripped off her captaincy for 30 days ending on 28th March.

Nabbosa has been an integral part in Lady Doves’ campaign since gaining top-flight promotion in 2018 and helped them win the league title last season.

Despite being the defending champions, the club has had a horrible start to this season and currently sit bottom of the Super League table with only a point from four games played.

The Masindi outfit drew their first game 0-0 with She Maroons in the opening game before losing to Uganda Martyrs, UCU Lady Cardinals and She Corporate.

They will return to action on Monday 7th March when they host Olila High School at Katusabe Grounds in Masindi.
