The Uganda Lady Cricket Cranes that will be taking part in the seventh edition of the Kwibuka Women’s international Twenty 20 tournament has on Wednesday, 2nd June flagged off to Rwanda.
National Council for Sports assistant general Secretary David Katende Ssemakula flagged off the team that will depart for Kigali on Thursday, 3rd June, quarantine for a day before playing their first game on June 6th against Botswana.
The tournament will be played under the T20 format and has attracted six nations who include hosts Rwanda, three time winners Kenya, and three debutants Botswana, Nigeria and Namibia.
Last year, the tournament was not held due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic. The Lady Cranes have taken part at every edition of the Kwibuka since its inception in 2014.
For starters, the Lady Cranes are the highest ranked side in the tournament and will head into the tournament one of the favourites alongside record winners Kenya and Namibia
New coach Suraj Karavadra will miss the trip due to sickness and the team will be under the stewardship of Development Manager Davis Turinawe.
