“Lack of facilities, a big detriment to the Bombers’ preparation for Tokyo 2020” Muhangi

Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi has expressed his worry about the Bombers participation in next year’s Olympic games in Tokyo.

Muhangi highlighted various reason on to why the team may fail to qualify for 2020 Olympic games.

“Until today with only two months left for the qualifiers in Senegal the team that will represent Uganda is yet to be selected.

Due to the fact that the team is not selected, then it automatically implies that the team won’t get adequate training ahead of the Olympic qualifiers due in Senegal on February 2020.”

The absence of professional and technical national coach deprives the team even when selected of adequate training and technical guidance.”

The other reasons Muhangi noted out are lack of training facilities (Gym), No training Camp, lack of friendly matches, lack of funds and lack of government prioritization.

History shows that Boxing contributes the largest number of Olympic medals for Uganda. It is only boxing and Athletics that the Ugandan flag is assured to fly high at a global level.
