Erisa Keith Sekisambu scored the first Kenya Premier League hat trick this season in Gor Mahia’s 4-1 win over Mountain Kenya (Formerly Nakumatt) at Kasarani.
The former Vipers man put K’Oghalo in an early lead in the 2nd minute after being fed by George Blackberry Odhiambo.
Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay withdrew Ivorian forward Ephraim Guikan and subsequently replaced him with legend Dennis Oliech two minutes to the mandatory halftime break.
Oliech made it 2-0 after converting from the spot following a foul on Francis Mustapha by Kevin Thairu in the box moments into the second period.
Mountain Kenya were reduced to ten men after Frank Bala was sent off for a second bookable offense of protesting against the penalty awarded by the referee.
Mountain Kenya however pulled one back through former Gor Mahia midfielder Moses Odhiambo.
Sekisambu grabbed a brace in the 77th minute after being teed up by his fellow countryman Shafik Batambuze Bhachu.
The visitors were awarded a penalty to reduce the deficit after Wellington Ochieng’s handball in the box but Moses Odhiambo could not scored again against his former side as his effort rattled the cross bar.
Sekisambu put the icing on the cake when he completed his hat trick in the 93rd minute from an Oliech pass.
Victory took the defending champions to the fourth place with 13 points from 7 games played.
Sekisambu and his teammates will return to action in Gor Mahia’s CAF Confederation final round tie against New Stars de Doula in Cameroon.
