Kizito Luwagga wins Belarusian League title with BATE Borisov

Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder William Kizito Luwagga won the Belarusian Premier league championship with BATE Borisov on Sunday evening.

To achieve the feat, BATE Borisov had to overcome Neman Grodno courtesy of a Yevgeniy Berezkin lone goal that came in the 88th minute at the Borisov Arena.

The Uganda Cranes player was then brought on inside the added minutes of stoppage time in the place of Ihar Stasevich.

The full-time result meant that BATE are yet again Belarusian champions for the 15th time, 13 of which are consecutive since 2006.

BATE Borisov clinched the title with 3 games to spare after accumulating 69 points that is 14 clear second placed Shakhtyor Soligorsk who drew 1-1 against Luch Minsk.

Luwagga joined the Belarusian giants in August this year on a season long loan from Romanian side Politehnica Iasi.

While at BATE Borisov, Luwagga is a teammate to former Arsenal, Barcelona and Inter Milan winger Aleksandr Hleb.

BATE Borisov’s immediate assignment will be a Europa League group L contest against Chelsea on Thursday 8th November at the Borisov Arena.
