Uganda Cranes forward William Kizito Luwagga was named the man of the match as Hapoel Kfar Saba beat Bnei Yehuda 3-1 in the Israeli Premier League on Monday evening.
Luwagga came off the bench while Kfar Saba were trailing 1-0 and subsequently got involved in all the three goals that ensured a comfortable victory.
He replaced Frenchman Amadou Soukouna in the 56th minute and initiated a move that brought the club’s equaliser (scored by Omer Fadida) in the 62nd minute.
12 minutes later, he won a penalty which was flawlessly converted by Omer Fadida to give his side a deserved lead.
From the moment Luwagga came on, he changed the tide of the game with relentless attacks and ultimately won the game when he set up striker Or Dasa who scored the third goal deep in the stoppage time.
He might have not scored but Luwagga was the game changer and with no doubt named the man of the match.
Besides his scintillating exploits during the 3-1 win, Luwagga has so far scored one league goal which came in a 2-1 victory over Hapoel Tel Aviv.
He also managed three goals in five games during the club’s campaign in the Israeli Toto Cup before the league kicked off.
Luwagga joined Hapoel Kfar Saba in January this year and scored two goals in the 10 league he played in the closing half of the season.
Hapoel Kfar Saba are now third on the 14-team table with six points accumulated from three games, same as Ashdod SC who won 1-0 against Maccabi Petah Tikva.
Timothy Awany played full-time for Ashdod SC while striker Fahad Bayo was an unused substitute.
