Uganda’s Pugilist Shafik Kiwanuka aka Killing Machine will return to the ring when he takes on Georgia’s Giorgi Kopadze in the Universal Boxing council Intercontinental heavyweight title fight.

Kiwanuka’s last fight was against South African Christopher Andrew Thompson with the two settling for a draw in Mtana Hall, Dar-Es-Salaam in October last year.

Before his first fight outside Uganda, Kiwanuka had knocked out his first two pro opponents and defeated another by unanimous decision.

“I am very ready to take on the Georgian, I badly need the belt and I will make sure that I raise the Ugandan flag on the fight night.” I am the Killing machine and my fans know me for the KOs and I promise them another one.” Said an optimistic Kiwanuka

Besides the UBC Intercontinental title fight, two other WBF Continental Championship fights were also launched on Tuesday at the International University of East Africa in Kansanga.

The other title fight will be between Ratib Muwonge alias Dancing Rasta who will battle with Kenya’s Emmanuel Chvoli for the Junior Walterweight WBC Continental belt.

Muwonge’s previous fight was against Serwada Sadam in March this year. He went ahead to clinch the Junior Walterweight title as well as winning his 4 professional fight.

Aldin Muzei will face Tanzanian Albert Kimario in the Featherweight WBC Continental Championship title fight.

Muzei beat Ben Sajjabi to retain his Featherweight title. He has won all his previous four professional fights

All the three title fights are scheduled for 8th July at the IUEA Auditorium theatre in Kansanga.

Great Strikers chairman Sam Buchanan is confident Kiwanuka will make Uganda proud

“I have confidence that Kiwanuka will deliver as he has always done. He knows he is representing Uganda and I know he will raise the Ugandan flag. Personally, I want him to knock down the Georgian.” The titles are vacant and it’s now upon our boxers to fight for them.” Said Buchanan

The launched was attended by the Uganda Professional Boxing Commission President and Kampala Division Mayor Salim Uhuru who also confirmed the sanctioning of the fights.
