Mbarara City are set to appoint Paul Kiwanuka as their new head coach, Swift Sports Uganda understands.
The development comes hours after Hussein Mbalangu resigned from the role at the club.
Kiwanuka is now the favourite to land the Mbarara top job and has recently held several negotiations with the club officials.
Kiwanuka is currently unemployed since he was relieved of his duties at Vipers following the appointment of Brazilian tactician Robertinho Oliviera at the start of this season.
He has also previously served at Bright Stars and helped them overcome relegation in 2019/20 season.
UPDF FC head coach Brian Ssenyondo is also believes to be interested in a return to Mbarara.
Mbarara City are currently 12th on the Uganda Premier League log with 16 points, four above the red zone.
