Ambrose Kirya scored the all important goal as SC Villa beat Onduparaka 1-0 in the league game at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Wednesday.
Villa had numerous scoring opportunities but were too wasteful on the day.
They were dreadful in front of net in a game they could have scored three or more goals.
Onduparaka looked compact, often packing in and preventing Villa shots from good areas just by sheer numbers behind the ball.
Kirya missed a free header inside the opening 7th minute of the game.
The best chance of the contest fell to Ronald Magwali who failed to hit the back of the net from 12 yards.
Amis Muwonge and Hassan Muhammed had a decent chances to fire the visitors into the lead but couldn’t cash in.
Three minutes after the recess, Kirya gave the home side a deserved lead with a brilliant strike from 25 yards off a Nicholas Kabonge assist.
His goal was enough to secure maximum points for the Jogoos who are now five points adrift of second placed KCCA FC and 10 below leaders Vipers. They are third on the Uganda Premier league log with 40 points.
Onduparaka FC remain fifth placed with 30 points garnered in 22 games.
