Following his appointment as the new Gomba head coach Ibrahim Kirya says, he is building a strong team that will guide the record Masaza cup champions defend their last year’s triumph.
” My ambition is to guide Gomba win this year’s Masaza cup trophy and to achieve this, I have to assemble a strong team that will be able to compete favourably. We have now carried out trials for two weeks now and we are still looking for players that we feel will be able to do the needful.”
Kirya also asserts that to inspire Gomba to their fifth trophy, he will need the support of his bosses and the fans as well
“I believe the support of my bosses and fans will be key to help us reach our target. Winning is not only about building a strong team but also working collectively with everyone who has responsibility at the team.”
Kirya replaced Simon Dungu ‘Dunga’ who joined Buddu at the helms of Gomba. This is the first time that Kirya will be managing a Saza team. He has previously managed at SC Villa, URA and Mbarara City all in the topflight division.
Gomba has held trials today at Sendi grounds, Wankulukuku and on Monday 16th April they are to conduct other trials at the same venue.
Gomba will host Buwekula at Kabulasoke in this year’s Masaza cup opener slated for 23rd June 2018.
