Former SC Villa and URA coach Ibrahim Kirya was sacked from his position as head at Mbarara City 6 days ago making him the most sacked coach this season.

He lost his job at URA in December after failing to steer the club to its intended objectives. consequently, he was signed by Mbarara City who had just got rid of Vialli Bainomugisha.

Surprisingly, the tactician only managed one win during his short tenure, a 1-0 victory over Masavu. He lost to UPDF FC, Vipers SC and drew the other 2 games.

Swift sports Uganda managed to reach him for an exclusive interview about his infamous sacking and the way forward.

When asked to clarify on the controversy that surrounded his sacking and the fracus that followed his exit at the club, Kirya said,

“The truth is I wasn’t sacked in the proper channels, I got to know of it via a phone call and I am yet to receive my release letter. “

“It’s rumoured that I mobilised fans to demonstrate against my sacking but it was their own way of showing their anger about how the club is run, I couldn’t do such a silly thing. Fans see and they can judge, they saw the improvement I had done on the team”.

“I have done my job and I believe if they build on what I put in place, they will survive the drop”.

Kirya expressed his discontentment about the way coaches are treated in the league calling for more patience to allow them full fill their projects. He added,

” Clubs no longer give us enough time to build a philosophy or cohesion in a team, we are always under pressure to deliver. There is a lot of impatience in our trade, players, coaches and everyone should be accorded time”.

When asked to highlight on his next step, Kirya was adamant to disclose fully despite sitting at the Masavu FC technical bench on their match against Bright stars.

” I only sat came here to help my friend Mutyaba in one way or another but I am not here to take his job”.

” I am currently unemployed and sitting at home, I am a football coach and waiting on for any opportunity that presents it’s self to me.

Kirya is an experienced coach who won the Uganda cup with SC Villa in 2015, coached URA FC, Lweza FC and Mbarara City who fired him 7 days ago.
