Kirinya Jinja SSS condemn Mbarara City to second successive defeat

Kirinya Jinja SSS defeated Mbarara City 2-1 in a Uganda Premier League match played at the Mighty Arena in Jinja on Tuesday evening.

The defeat was Mbarara City’s second in succession after losing to Onduparaka with the identical scoreline last week at Kakyeka.

Joel Madondo and captain George Kasonko scored goals for Kirinya Jinja SSS which came in the first 15 minutes of the game.

Madondo put the home side in the lead with a cool finish in the second minute before Kasonko doubled the scoreline ten minutes later.

Burundian midfielder Pistis Barenge cut the lead for the Charles Livingston Mbabazi’s coached men in the 16th minute.

The Ankole Lions were forced into a first half substitute when defender Rashid Muhammad went off limping and his place was taken up by Ronnie Kisekka.

Mbabazi’s made two more substitutions moments into the second period – Ibrahim Orit and Jude Semugabi replaced Ivan Eyam and Ivan Mboowa respectively.

Abbey Bogere Kikomeko also brought on Anthony Mayanja and Nelson Mandela to consolidate his team’s lead.

The defeat leaves Mbarara City third with 36 points while Kirinya Jinja SSS move to the 9th place on 27 points.

Next on card for the Ankole Lions will be an encounter with Paidha Black Angels at Kakyeka on Friday 1st March.

Kirinya Jinja SSS will play host to Nyamityobora in their next league game on Saturday 2nd March.
