Kirinya Jinja SS defeated Express 2-0 at Bugembe courtesy of goals from Fred Amaku and Anthony Mayanja in the 13th and 78th minute respectively to earn their 11th win of the season maintaining their 4th position on the AUPL table.
Charles Ayiekoh the Kirinya tactician continued to play down intentions of challenging for the title but boldly affirmed that his side will be a title candidate come next season.
“I still insist my personal target is finishing in the top five this season. Next season, I will do some additions like two players where necessary then i will challenge for the title. We are still moulding our players for the next season.” He said.
“I am very happy that at the end of the day, we won but even the game against KCCA, we lost but honorably. I think there is no single fan who can say we lost because we never played well. I am very happy with my boys because we are going forward and better every time, I think that’s the difference between us and other teams.”
Ayiekoh also vindicated for a change in his goalkeeping department where he selected Didi Muhammad ahead of Emmanuel Rubankene.
“I think every player in my team can play, that’s why i licensed 3 goalkeepers. Today Didi (Muhammad) was superb although his defenders protected him so much, Just like any other player, Rubankene had a bad day in office against KCCA but i know he will recover because he has kept 5 clean sheets so far.”
Kirinya’s victory over Express propelled them to 37 points from 23 games played.
The Jinja outfit will play against URA FC at Namboole in their subsequent league fixture on Wednesday 11th April 2018.
