Uganda U-20 Women’s National team head coach Ayub Khalifa is optimistic that his beleaguered troops will prevail over South Africa.
Uganda will host South Africa on Friday in first leg contest of the U-20 World Cup qualifiers at the St.Mary’s Stadium.
He said during the pre match press conference
“We expected nothing less than a win, we have previously played against South Africa in the 2019 COSAFA U-17 and won the game. We have prepared the girls well and we are hopeful of a win tomorrow.”
Khalifa has warned his team to avoid conceding at home
“We have to get a better margin before the return fixture and we should avoid conceding at home if we are to progress to the next round.”
We have worked on the negatives in the defeat to Ethiopia and we are very ready to take on South Africa.”
Uganda shred Kenya 10-3 in the previous round while South Africa beat Mozambique 4-2 on aggregate to reach this stage.
The aggregate winning team of this tie will face Ghana or Zambia in the next round of qualification.
