Kenyan giants targeting Mbarara City lead striker

admin

Kenya Premier League leaders Tusker are interested in the services of Mbarara City striker Henry Kitegenyi.

Tusker want to sign the gangly striker ahead of their CAF Champions League campaign.

Kitegenyi was Mbarara City’s leading scorer in the recently concluded season having scored nine goals including the iconic winner against his former side Vipers at Kakyeka.

If the talks between Tusker and Kitegenyi’s representatives emerge successful, the stocky striker will become the third Ugandan player at the club after Rogers Aloro and team captain Hashim Ssempala.

Kitegenyi previously featured for Kansai Plascon while the FUFA Big League before making a move to Vipers in 2019.

He barely found playing time at Kitende before the club let him go and immediately made himself a fans favourite at Mbarara City.

Tusker under the captaincy of Ssempala, have already booked a berth in next season’s CAF Champions League and will be making their first appearance on the continent since 2016.

The Brewers are leading the Kenya Premier League table with 51 points from 24 outings and will have to beat competition from second placed KCB if they are to win their 12th league title.
