The 2018-19 Ugandan Premier League golden boot winner used 44 minutes to score his first ever goal for the K’Oghalo, a tap in from a spilled Samuel Onyango ball.

He then doubled the scoreline at the hour mark with a low drive before Kenneth Muguna made it 3-0.

Balinya was unfortunate not to complete a hat trick but will have to replicate his exploits in their next game against Sofapaka on Saturday 8th February.

Gor Mahia are now four points clear of second placed Kakamega Homeboyz who have played a game more.

In the other games played over the weekend, Peter Lwasa also grabbed a hat trick as Kariobangi Sharks thumped Kisumu All Stars 8-1.

Benjamin Ochan’s AFC Leopards defeated Ulinzi Stars 1-0, Kakamega Homeboyz drew 1-1 with Wazito FC while Sofapaka were held to a 1-1 draw by Mathare United.

Goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato and new signing Brian Kayanja didn’t not feature for the Batoto ba Mungu.
