KCCA set for final push for the title defense as they visit Police FC

KCCA FC will play against Police FC with one ear on proceedings at St Mary’s Stadium to see if they can defend their title. They trail Vipers SC with 2 points coming into the final day of the season.

It is a game that will determine whether the Lugogo outfit can defend the league title for a third consecutive season or surrender to current log leaders Vipers. Police on the other hand will only be playing for pride having sealed their stay in the top tier division.

KCCA FC are currently second on the AUPL log with 60 points and trail leaders Vipers by 2 points. Anything short of maximum points will officially confirm Miguel Da Costa’s side as champions.

The cops on the other are currently sitting in 7th position with 38 points and they are guaranteed a mid table league finish.

Police were 1-0 victors at Maroons in their previous game whereas KCCA FC edged BUL FC 2-1 courtesy of a Derrick Nsibambi brace as Pierre Kambale Muhindo also on target for the visitors.

Mike Mutebi’s side are yet to lose to Police in their previous 16 meetings, won 12 and only drawn twice. KCCA FC also won the first round meeting 2-0 when the two sides met at StarTimes stadium last year.

Police will be without goalkeeper Douglas Kisembo who is ineligible to face his parent club while Ben Ocen is also out of the contest through suspension. Paul Willa returns to the side after the U-20 engagements.

Norman Ogik, Pius Kagwa and Aggrey Madoi are expected to lift up the cops. Police Abdallah Mubiru will also be facing a side he once managed.

Muzamir Mutyaba is still on the sidelines through injury on the visitors side. Shaban Muhammad is likely to take part despite a reported rout with his coach Mike Mutebi.

Derrick Nsibambi, Allan Okello and Paul Mucurezi are expected to provide the needed magic to KCCA FC.

Mike Mutebi’s side can be crowned as the best team in the land for a third successive season if they manage to pick maximum points and pray Vipers ,UPDF game at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende ends in a stalement.

Abdallah Mubiru’s charges can move to 5th place with a victory in case current occupants Kirinya stumble against Mbarara City.
