The mood to celebrate the league trophy at Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo is in high gear and spiced. For starters Phillip Omondi Stadium is home to the league champions KCCA FC. The club is set to celebrate their 12th league trophy since its inception in 1963 but this time in a bigger and better style.
Fortunately for the club and its fans, the trophy comes at a time when they are taking part in the CAF Confederations Cup and everything is almost set for them to tussle it out with Tunisian giants Club Africain on Tuesday 23rd May 2017.
“We are ready to celebrate our triumph in the league this season on Saturday 20th May and our fans will watch that last league game against Sadolin Paints Fc at home at zero cost” said club head of media Clive Kyazze.
He further puts “Its free entrance to all fans as a way of giving back to them and also thanking them for supporting the club throughout the season and always” There are also over 1000 replica jerseys to be given out to club fans on saturday but to enter the winning draw one has to buy a ticket for the KCCA FC game against Club Africain, these can be accessed from Shell Kampala road, Shell Nakawa, Lugogo stadium, and Shell Ntinda and they go for shillings 10,000, 20,000 and 50,000 for ordinary, VIP and VVIP sections respectively.
KCCA has in the recent past remained in the driving seat and are happily cruising on as other clubs seem to have relaxed. While they are set to celebrate the league title, they are in the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup and have a pending semi final against Express fc in the Uganda cup.
KCCA come in the bonanza after beating Proline 2-0 on Wednesday courtesy of Robert Sentongo and Sulaimon Akinyemi goals extending their tally to 63 points with a game to play. They are also celebrating the title with the league top scorer in Sserunkuuma Geoffrey who before playing his last game of the season has already clinched 20 goals.
