Another win, another superb performance and an amazing victory capped by an individual display from hit man Shaban Muhammad.
The striker got off the mark as early as the 6th minute with a neat tap in from a perfectly delivered free kick by youngster Mustafa Kizza. The goal was earlier attributed to Paul Mucureezi but the referee later indicated that it was scored by Shaban.
Only 2 minutes later, Timothy Awanyi pulled down Tadeo Lwanga in the area to win Vipers a penalty which Yayo Lutimba burried deep in the far corner.
KCCA regained the grip on the game and 10 minutes later, Mohammed Shaban had reinstated their lead with a free header off an other superbly delivered free kick.
The second period saw Miguel Da Costa withdraw a subdued Steven Mukwala for Musa Mbayi. Mike Mutebi reacted by replacing Muhammad Shaban with Derrick Nsibambi.
Vipers tried to continue chasing the game but with less impact, Frank Tumwesigye was removed for Erisa Sekisambu.
The most positive substitution Was the introduction of Baden Mujahid for Geoffrey Wasswa with the young forward making a series bursting runs into the KCCA area.
There was more drama in the added minutes when a visibly rusty James Alitho tried to beat Tito Okello who stole the ball from him to set up Derrick Nsibambi’s goal and the hosts’ 3rd of the evening.
The win helps KCCA maintain their title defense but the loss for Vipers means Miguel Da Costa lives on borrowed time after managing only one win from the last 6 games.
