KCCA Crumble as UCU pulls off a dramatic win.

Equity’s Mercy Wanyama was unstoppable as they pressed the home side KCCA in a match Equity won 56-51. On a day Mercy scored 21 points and 14 rebounds while KCCA’s Joy Chemutai put up 12 points and 8 rebounds but still wasn’t good enough to stop Kenya’s female giants.

KCCA started with Joy Chemutau, Martha Soigi, Nakazibwe Sylvia, Cynthia Irakunda and Larissa Katungeko who seemed ready to reign as they led the 1st quarter on 14-12. How ever, Equity pulled back leading the 2nd quarter with a 1pt lead on 30-29. Equity Hawks went on to extend their lead in a 3rd quarter to 38-43 before sealing the the game in the last quarter where KCCA fought back but still ended the game on a 5 point deficit.

Next game was UCU lady Canons taking on KPA. After a great performance with a huge 108-42 win over Horseed, all eyes were on UCU to see if they could keep up the pace. It all started slow for the home side as they lost the first quarter 11-17.

The team came back motivated and narrowed the gap to 1 point at half time, 29-30. Ritah Imanishimwe , Rosine Micomyiza, Judith Nansobya, Proscovia Arach, Brenda Nakitende, Racheal Muwanguzi and others raised their game in the last quarter after going 47-53 down. With 6 minutes left UCU were 52-62 down, but they made a dramatic change on the score board in the last seconds to win it 69-68.
