Kalanda lone goal piles more misery on struggling Maroons

Beleaguered Douglas Bamweyana is under pressure after Maroons 1-0 defeat at home by Express FC on Thursday evening.

The defeat came off the back of an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Vipers SC at Kitende last week.

Frank Kalanda scored the all important goal in the second half as Express FC edged Maroons 1-0 at Luzira Prisons grounds.

The forward struck from close range a Disan Galiwango quality low cross in the 64th minute of the contest for his 11th goal of the season.

Earlier in the first period, Express FC midfielder Daniel Shabena had his decent effort from the free kick hit the woodwork before Arthur Kiggundu also rattled the woodwork moments later.

Steven Mukwala and Rashid Agau came close to levelling matters but couldn’t find the back of the net for the home side.

Victory moves Express FC to 9th position with 31points while Maroons are 13th on the log with 24 points and only two above the drop zone.

Maroons who suffered their fifth consecutive defeat will next travel to Police FC whereas Express FC will entertain Wakiso Giants at Wankulukuku after the CHAN break.
