Uganda Cranes goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba has reacted on the retirement of custodian and skipper Denis Onyango.
Onyango confirmed the development on his official social media pages on Monday evening
Kajoba says that he tried to convince the shot stopper to at least serve the national team in the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers but he had already made up his mind
“I tried to convince him to serve the national team in the forthcoming World Cup qualification campaign but he refused.”
” Definitely I am going to miss him, he was like a son to me. Denis was a great friend and I thank him for all the time we have worked together on the national team.”
“May God bless him and his family, let mother Mary pray for him and i will never forget the iconic goalkeeper in my life. Good luck Denis in whatever he is planning to do.”
Kajoba hailed the legendary goalkeeper
Onyango made his international debut on 18th June 2005 during the World Cup qualifying match against Cape Verde. He made 75 Caps in the National team colours.
He represented Uganda at the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Final tournaments in Gabon and Egypt respectively.
