JAVIER MARTINEZ ESPINOZA : Vipers sack Mexican coach after only 4 months

SINAN RAJUB SENOGA

Vipers SC have relieved Javier Martinez Espinoza of his duties as the club head coach following a goalless draw with Tooro United at Kitende.

Martinez Espinoza has only served four months at the defending champions after signing a 2 year contract with the club in August.

The Mexican tactician had replaced Miguel Jorge Da Costa who won the league title last season but consequently laboured to acquire results despite the unbeaten status in the league.

Under his stewardship, Vipers exited from the CAF Champions League at the hands of CS Constantine thanks to defeats in Algeria (1-0) and Kitende (2-0).

Martinez leaves Vipers in the second place on the premier league table with 25 points, 5 adrift leaders KCCA who have played two game more.

Edward Golola is expected to take over on an interim basis as the club prepares to take on Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in a fortnight from now
