Jamila Nansikombi inspires Uganda to bronze at FIBA Africa 3×3 Cup

Uganda Women team led by Nansinkombi Jamila impressed at the FIBA Africa 3×3 in Lome, Togo.

Uganda finished 3rd after being eliminated by Nigeria losing 7-12 in the semifinals. In the 3rd place Playoff Uganda took on Côte d’Ivoire who had lost 12-21 to Mali in semifinal 2.

Uganda defeated Côte d’Ivoire 16-13 to claim the 3rd place behind Nigeria who lost 11-12 to Mali in the finals. Mali won all their 6 games , Nigeria won 4 and lost 2 while Uganda won 5 and lost 1.

Mali’s Nassira Traore was named MVP after leading her team to Gold while Uganda’s Nansinkombi Jamila and Nigeria’s Nkechi Akashii joined her to make the team of the tournament.

Uganda’s sharp shooter Nansinkombi Jamila topped all women in the tournament.Jamila scored 44 points in 6 games 34 of her points scored from behind the arc.

In the Men’s category Uganda was stopped by Egypt at quarter finals losing 16-21. Egypt got eliminated 14-21 by Nigeria in the semifinals and Nigeria went on to win the tournament defeating Côte d’Ivoire on 21-9.
