Uganda Cranes duo of Timothy Dennis Awany and Fahad Bayo Aziz featured for Ashdod SC in a 2-0 win over Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Premier League on Sunday night.

Awany started the game but substituted in the 73rd minute for Idan Dahan while Bayo came off the bench to replace Mohammad Kanaan in the 60th minute.

Both players were booked for foul play with Awany’s yellow card coming in the 36th minute while Bayo’s went straight into the referee’s book four minutes after coming on.

Sagiv Yehezkel and Roy Gordana scored the two goals for the winning side in the 1st and 90+4th minute respectively.

Yehezkel’s goal came after only 19 seconds and stands out as the fastest goal ever scored in the Israeli Ligat Haal for at least the last three years.

After securing their first win of the season, Ashdod SC are now 6th on the league table with three points after two games.

Next on card for Bayo, Awany and teammates will be a home fixture against Maccabi Petah Tikva on 21st September.

Elsewhere in the same league, another Ugandan player William Kizito Luwagga played full-time as his side Hapoel Kfar Saba lost 2-0 to Maccabi Petah Tikva.

Hapoel Kfar Saba are 8th with three points but two places below Ashdod SC courtesy of an inferior goal difference.
