Having successfully earned an easy win over the Falcons and true Parrots of Sao Tome and Principe, Uganda’s national team the Cranes will be on with another international friendly game against the Flames of Malawi.

Uganda and Malawi have previously met a record 27 times with the Cranes emerging a dominant side winning 14. Both teams have drawn on 5 occasions while the Flames of Malawi have won 8 encounters.

Both teams are managed by foreign based coaches. Malawi is coached by former Belgian footballer Ronny Van Geneugden whereas Uganda is coached by the French born Sebastien Desabre.

The Cranes who played a friendly game with Sao Tome and Principe and won 3-1 last Saturday will be playing yet another game and Desabre says he will be looking at these matches as a chance to assess those players he hasn’t watched playing so far since taking charge as Cranes head coach last year.

“These matches will further help me take a critical look at many players I have not yet got chance to look at especially the foreign based players. These matches will help prepare the team ahead of the next round of AFCON 2019 qualifiers which will both be at home.”    He said via
