Injury stricken Express visit Onduparaka in search of back to back victories

• Greenlight stadium, Arua
• 3pm.

Defending champions Express FC will have to negotiate their tricky visit to Onduparaka FC without seven of their regular players.

The seven include defender Murushid Juuko who is sidelined by fever alongside midfielders Daniel Shabena, Nicholas Kasozi and striker George Senkaaba.

Winger Martin Kizza is ruled out by a hamstring injury while Abel Eturude is nursing a quadricep injury. Ivan Mayanja is another player who has been ruled out the encounter.

Onduparaka also have their captain Shaban Muhammad alongside Dudu Ramathan and Ivan Okello as the major doubts for the game.

Left back Rashid Okocha starts his suspension after seeing red in the club’s previous game against SC Villa at Njeru.

Youngster James Jarieko and experienced defender Alex Adriko Gasper are also suspended for this one having received bookings for the third time this season in the previous game.

Striker Rashid Agau is still out injured.

Goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga will be facing his immediate former pay masters having left the club soon after winning the league title last season.

Express sit 6th on the log with 11 points while Onduparaka are on eight points in the 9th place.

The Red Eagles beat Wakiso Giants 1-0 courtesy of Erick Kambale’s first half penalty in their previous game while the Caterpillars threw away an early lead to lose 2-1 to Villa.

Key Players

With a number of players out of the contest, Kambale will be Express’ go-to man up-front. He is expected to partner with Charles Musiige, Godfrey Lwesibawa and Joseph Akandwanaho in search for goals.

Onduparaka will also be looking up to Safi Mansoor Agu, Gabriel Matata and Emma Oketch should Shaban fail to be declared fit for the game.

Head To Head

Onduparaka have won four of the previous 10 encounters with Express. The other four have been draws while Express have won the other two.

Express had not won against Onduparaka until Wasswa Bbosa returned to Wankulukuku. It should also be noted that Bbosa has won more games against Onduparaka at the Greenlight stadium than any other coach. He beat Onduparaka 1-0 on three occasions while coaching SC Villa (2017/18), Tooro United (2018/19) and Express (2019/20).

Last season, Express won 2-0 at Wankulukuku courtesy of a late Kambale brace while the first leg encounter ended 1-1.

Despite the long list of absentees in his team, Bbosa has expressed readiness to take on Onduparaka.

“We have prepared very well for this game, we respect Onduparaka but we are here to ensure we get maximum points. A couple of our players are not available due to injuries but we believe we have other players who will fill the void and do a good job”

Bbosa said via the club’s website.
