Ikong plays the inspirational Captain in Betway Power’s victory

After defending champions edging Rwanda’s Patriots in a 77-73 win, another Ugandan side, Betway Power stepped up against Mombasa’s based side KPA.

Power started with Fahamy, Odom, Lumanyike, Makiadi and Captain Ikong. Power who had won all their last 3 games including a league game against defending champions City Oilers, before they defeated ABC and Gondar, 87-55 and 113-31 respectively in Zone V, started slow going down 4-6 in the first 6 minutes. They went on to lose the first quarter on 15-17.

Game got tighter, 18-18 with interesting skills from Kojo blocking Arou, however KPA looked a better side leading 33-29 at half time. 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter Power was trailing by 4 points, 40-44 as the crowd started chanting Power Power, this was the moment that turned the game, Power pressed harder, with Odong scoring a 3 pointer to put Power in lead 50-48 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Power’s Captain Joseph Ikong who had a great game in the first 3 quarters, went wild opening the 4th quarter with a 3 pointer pushing Power to extend their lead to 55-48, 15 of which had been scored by him.

Power went on to destroy KPA finalizing the score line 73-60 with Ikong scoring a total of 23 points.
