•  Tindastóll Neisti WFC 1-2 Thor/Ka Akureyri

Sandra Nabweteme came off the bench to score two goals and win all three points for her club Thor/Ka Akureyri against Tindastóll Neisti in the Iceland Pepsi Max Women’s League on Thursday night.

The Ugandan striker used 20 minutes to inspire a comeback victory for Thor/Ka Akureyri who had conceded a first half goal in the 22nd minute through Murielle Tiernan.

While trailing 1-0, Nabweteme was introduced for Osk Jonsdottir in the 70th minute in a bid to find an equalizer.

The former Kawempe Muslim prolific striker used only one minute to announce her arrival on the pitch. She was on the receiving end of Hulda Hannesdottir’s pass just inside the box and fired the ball into the net.

Into the stoppage time, Nabweteme scored the winning goal with virtually the last kick of the game when she received the ball from the far post, beat her marker and calmly slotted it past the keeper.

20 minutes, two goals scored, three points won. Decent stats for Sandra Nabweteme!

Nabweteme’s brace took her tally to three goals in the five games played. Her first goal came a fortnight ago in their 3-1 defeat to Breidablik Women Football Club.

Thor/Ka Akureyri now sits 5th on the Iceland Women’s top-flight league table with six points from five games.

Nabweteme and teammates will return to action on Tuesday next week as they take on FH Hafnarfjordur Women Club in the Iceland Women Cup.
