Luwagga admits to being delighted about the return to the cranes fold. He says

“I am very pleased to be summoned again on the national team, it is always every player’s dream to play for the national side and so am very grateful. I thank coaches Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba for calling me again to serve my country again on international level.”

On his fall out with former cranes coach Milutin Srejedovic,

“It’s true i had issues with former cranes coach Micho but that is now in the past and it’s time for me to move on and begin a new chapter on the national side. However, i wish coach Micho all the best in his new appointment at Orlando Pirates.”

Luwagga has confidence in the cranes chances of qualifying for the World Cup, a feat they nation has never achieved. He adds,

“We can make it to Russia by qualifying for the world cup, but we first need to get positive results in the double header with Egypt. They are a strong side but we can put up great performances and to qualify you have to play the best.”

Luwagga last featured in the national colours in the 1-1 draw with Mali at the Africa Cup of nations in Gabon. The pharaohs currently top group E on 6 points from two games played with Uganda second on 4 points.
