The national team coach Moses Basena summoned 35 players last week to prepare for the mouthwatering encounter with the black stars of Ghana. Among those summoned is URA right back Fred Okot who has so far been so impressive for his club at the start of 2017/18 season.
In an interview with SwiftSports Uganda Okot is delighted that he was summoned for the national side,
“I feel good like any other player to be considered for the national duty, it is always a dream for me to play in the national team colours. I have a big chance to fight and get my first international cap with the national side.”
On the competition for places against Nico Wakiro Wadada and the other full backs. He says,
“Wadada is a brilliant footballer whom I give a lot of respect, but am ready to compete with him on the national team. He has been instrumental for the national side in recent years since he made the break through, am also aiming at the same.”
The URA Fc winger is also focusing on making the final 18 and always making it to the national side.
“My major focus is to make the final 18 that will face off with Ghana, this will be a massive chance for me to express my self, but i will leave this to the coaches to decide. I also aim at always making it to the national team for a long time, as you know football is all about luck and God’s will.”
This will be Okot’s first senior National team call up after being considered before for the Cranes Na Mutima assignments.
