Huge snub for locally based players as Desabre names 23 man squad

Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre has named a squad of 23 players to prepare for international friendlies to be played between the 24th and 27th of March 2018.

Uganda will play against Malawi and another country that will be named later.

The head coach has thrown a big surprise by naming only 4 locally based players among whom is debutant Abraham Ndugwa the Masavu FC captain, KCCA’s Timothy Awanyi, Milton Karisa and Nicholas Wadada both of Vipers SC.

Left back Alex Kakuba who features for Portuguese premier league side C. D Feirense makes a return to the Cranes fold.

Defenders:
Denis Iguma, Nicholas Wadada, Isaac Isinde, Bevis Mugabi, Murushid Juuko ,Timothy Awanyi, Godfrey Walusimbi, Alex Kakuba

Midfielders:
Ochaya Joseph, Hassan Wasswa , Khalid Aucho, Geoffrey Kizito, Farouk Miya, Karisa Milton, William Luwaga Kizito , Abraham Ndugwa.

Forwards:
Emmanuel Okwi, Sentamu Yunus, Edirisa Lubega, Hood Kaweesa

The Cranes are preparing for the 2019 Africa cup of nations qualifiers to be played between March 19 and 27 2018. The championships will be staged in Cameroon.

Uganda are in group L alongside Tanzania, Cape Verde and Lesotho
