How eight Ugandan players abroad fared over the weekend

Eight Ugandan players were involved in respective league games across the world over the weekend as football leagues continue following a pandemic break.

From Vietnam to Estonia, Denmark and Israel, here is how Ugandan representatives fared over the weekend;

VIETNAM

Joseph Mpande Mbolimbo was match day captain as his Hai Phong side held table leaders Ho Chi Minh City to a 0-0 draw in the Vietnamese V. League on Saturday.

Mpande has two league goals in the three matches they have played. Hai Phong are 6th on the table with five points.

Moses Oloya played 67 minutes for Ha Noi FC in their 3-0 win over Hong Anh Gia Lai at the Hang Day Stadium in Ha Noi on Sunday.

Oloya featured in the central midfield and was replaced by his Vietnamese teammate Van Dai Ngan.

Ha Noi are 4th on the table with 6 points.

Godfrey Baba Kizito’s Than Quang Ninh lost 2-0 at home to Hong Linh Ha Tinh on Sunday.

Baba Kizito featured in the right back position and played the full-time. Than Quang Ninh are 11th with only three points accumulated from three games.

ESTONIA

Edrisa Lubega “Torres” was on target for the third time this season as Paide Linnameeskond beat Tammeka Tartu 2-0 in the Estonian top-flight league on Sunday.

Lubega scored the first goal of the game in the 26th before he was replaced by Joseph Saliste in the 70th minute.

The Uganda Cranes forward has played five games and managed three league goals in return.

DENMARK

Robert Kakeeto came off the bench in the 68th minute as Aalborg BK lost 3-2 to AGF Aarhus in the Danish Superligaen on Sunday. Kakeeto replaced Magnus Christensen to mark his fifth appearance of the season.

Moses Opondo also came off the bench in the 80th minute as OB Odense defeated Esbjerg FB 3-1 on Sunday.

Opondo replaced Max Ferger with 10 minutes left to play.

Kakeeto and Aalborg are 6th on the table with 38 points while Opondo’s OB Odense are 9th with 33 points accumulated from 26 games played.

ISRAEL 

William Kizito Luwagga came off the bench as Hapoel Kfar Saba defeated Hapoel Raanana in the Israeli Ligat ha’Al relegation playoffs on Saturday.

Luwagga replaced Ben Reichert at the hour mark to mark his sixth appearance for Hapoel Kfar Saba.

Timothy Awany played full-time as his Ashdod SC lost 3-0 at Ironi Kiryat Shmona on Saturday. Awany has played 25 league games, scored one goal getting booked twice and sent off once in the process.
