• Gospel For Asia (G.F.A) 0-2 Hantharwady United
Ugandan forward Joseph Mpande Mbolimbo was sent off deep in the second half following an infringement in the box with the opponents’ defender and captain Atanga Ella Kestka.
Mpande had scored the first goal of the game as Hantharwady United defeated Gospel For Asia FC (G.F.A) 2-0 in round 18 of the MTP Myanmar National League played on Sunday 8th July.
The former Vipers’ skipper struck an exquisite rebound in the 13th minute to take his season total to 13 goals, topping the scorers’ chat.
Mpande faces stiff competition from Guinean forward Sekou Sylla (12) of Yangon United and Sunday Matthew Idoko (13) who scored a hat trick for Rakhine United.
Ghanaian Forward Mark Sekyi doubled Hantharwady United’s lead 2 minutes into the second half capitalizing on a defensive lapse inside the box.
The 2-0 victory elevated Hantharwady United to the 3rd position of the 12-team log with 29 points accumulated from 18 games.
Mpande’s expulsion is a great blow for the Hantharwady team as he is destined to miss out on the subsequent fixtures against the top two sides in league, that is Shan United on Saturday 14th July and Yangon United a week later.
