Government gives 1bn to FUFA for 2018 World Cup campaign

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations was by the evening of 4th. Oct.2017 relieved after government extended assistance worth a billion Ugandan shillings as funding for the worldcup qualifying campaign.

This followed a meeting between the ministry of Education and sports officials led by Hon. Janat Museveni , the state minister Hon Charles Bakabulindi and the ministry permanent secretary Alex Kakooza.

On the other hand, the FUFA delegation was headed by the President Eng. Moses Magogo , the first vice President, Justus Mugisha , the finance director Decolas Kizza and the Chief Executive Director Edgar Watson.

In her speech the minister , adviced the sports federations in the country, the National Council of Sports and the department of physics education in her docket to always have long term plans to avoid afhov interventions.

On behalf of the federation, Eng. Moses Magogo could not hide his excitement in his speech ;

“I am very excited that the government has answered our call for the support to the Uganda Cranes and this cash will clear among others the bonuses and allowances for players and coaches. This is the kind of motivation that will influence the sporting results. ” 

The funding come just a few days after the FUFA President wrote a controversial article in which he asked every Ugandan to play his part in seeing Uganda qualify otherwise, failure to do so Uganda wouldn’t be ready for worldcup.
