Absa Bank Uganda has on Tuesday, 11th announced a sponsorship of the 2021 edition of the captain’s Bell Tournament.
The sponsorship which is worthy UGX 30million was officially unveiled at the Uganda Golf Club.
Absa Bank Uganda’s Managing Director Mumba Kalifungwa confirmed the development at a press briefing
“Absa Bank Uganda has been a long term partner of the Uganda Golf Club in driving growth and development of the game of golf in Uganda.” We take great pride in having the opportunity to be on board for the Captain’s Bell tournament, which is an occasion and tournament that holds special significance to both the Uganda Golf Club and to us.”
Uganda Golf Club Secretary Ruth Ssali says that this year they will be limited to the number of participants due to Covid-19
“The tournament usually attracts 250 players but due to the Covid SOPs, we may have to scale down the number to only 200. Professionals will play for a prize month of shs8 million while the amateurs in different categories and seniors will win a range of prizes.”
The Captain’s Bell Tournament is an annual event hosted by the Uganda Golf Club where the newly elected captain hosts members to a tournament and unveils his new committee at the beginning of his term in office.
Former Club Treasurer Patrick Billy is the new captain of the club and will be ushering in a committee comprising his vice captain/course secretary Dr. Alex Coutinho, treasurer Patrick Kagoro and among others.
The Captain’s Bell Tournament 2021 will take place from 20th -22May at the Uganda Golf Club and will see the professionals play for prize money of UGX 8million while the amateurs in different categories and seniors will win a range of prizes.
